BirdSpectra

BirdSpectra is a mission-driven conservation company leveraging technology to make bird conservation in Africa smarter, inclusive and data-driven. We envision a world where birds are not only admired, but intelligently studied and conserved. Our current innovations include the upcoming AfrikBird ID, an open-source mobile application that identifies African birds based on sound and image. We are also developing the AfrikBird Field Guide, a free mobile application to support conservationists, citizen scientists, and field researchers across Africa. At BirdSpectra, we also lead field-based and computational research, like our present study in Kogi State, Nigeria, where we are using machine learning to investigate how anthropogenic and environmental factors drive bird communities among major habitat types. This will ensure a precise and evidence-based approach to conserving birds and the ecosystems they depend on. Through innovation, scientific accuracy, and education, we empower learners, communities, researchers, and organizations with knowledge and tools to make informed conservation decisions. Together with a growing network of researchers and collaborators, we are building a future where birds and ecosystems are protected with passion, precision and purpose.
